Watch! How conservation works: A model for conserving dugongs and seagrass

June 18, 2017

How do you begin to save dugongs and seagrass in subsistence communities along the Indian Ocean and into the Pacific? This is what we do. Its our bread and butter.

We work from a model of conservation. This model includes 4 interrelated parts: Research, Policy, Education and Economic Incentives. Our partners are applying this conservation model across Madagascar, Mozambique, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Indonesia, Timor-Leste, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.

But to say that we organize our activities around a model of conservation is different than showing you what we do. To that end we recently caught up with our partners in Sri Lanka to tour a few projects, and we brought along a filmmaker. And now you too are invited on a tour.

This is our documentary – shot, edited and produced in coordination with UN Environment and our Sri Lanka Partners. It shows how we do conservation: Carefully. Strategically. Effectively. And always in collaboration with local communities.

We hope you enjoy the ride.
